Frequently asked questions

Why do I need a blood sampling kit?

In order to get yourself tested for antibodies against SARS-CoV-2, we need a sample of your blood. The blood sampling kit allows you to take your own blood sample from the comfort of your home at any time you want. It is very easy and everyone can do it - no professional training required. We also only need two drops of blood, that is more than 100-times less compared to a doctor's visit.

What happens if I have a negative test result?

A negative test result means we were not able to detect IgG antibodies specifically against the SARS-CoV-2 in your blood. This is an indication that you have not been exposed to the Corona Virus or are currently exposed to the Corona Virus and your body did not produce enough antibodies yet to be detected.

What happens if I have a positive test result?

A positive test result means we have detected IgG antibodies specifically against the SARS-CoV-2 in your blood. This is an indication that you have been infected with the Corona Virus or are currently infected and your body successfully produced antibodies against it.

Am I immune to SARS-CoV-2 in case I have a positive test result?

The research to give a definite answer is currently still ongoing. However, from the current perspective and without any vaccine available, the presence of antibodies in your blood (confirmed by a positive test result) is a major step towards immunity.

Are the AELYSA Corona Antibody tests certified?

Yes, we only employ tests with the CE-IVD label which are safe and reliable to use for checking your blood for antibodies against SARS-CoV-2.

Who has access to my test result?

Only you. Every test result will be uploaded into our secured online web space and only be accessible via the unique TEST ID you received with our blood sampling kit.

Am I allowed to print my test results and show them to my employer?

The test results are yours, so you are free to do whatever you want with them.

What happens with my blood after testing?

We keep your blood for up to 30 days after the last test. Afterwards, we will discard your blood completely. At no time will your blood be used for anything else than the AELYSA Corona Antibody Test.

I took the blood samples on a Saturday. Will they still be usable when they arrive on Monday in your lab?

Yes. Our blood sampling kits are designed to keep your blood samples in good shape even for more than one day of delivery to secure accurate testing and reliable test results.
